‘Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion’
Terms and conditions
The Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion period begins at 12.00am on Monday 28 April and closes 7.00pm on Friday 23 May 2025. This promotion is coordinated by BUSIT, on behalf of Waikato Regional Council (WRC), and in partnership with Hamilton City Council’s School Travel Team.
Entry
The participant enters the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion in accordance with these Terms and any Promotion Specific Terms below:
To participate in the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion, the Participant must:
— be aged 10-18 years and be attending a middle, intermediate or high school in Hamilton City;
— be resident in Waikato, New Zealand;
— by entering, the entrant agrees that their parent or logal guardian has granted them permission to participate in this promotion;
— by entering, the participant agrees that their name maybe be used to make announcements of the winners on social media channels for BUSIT.
The participant may only enter the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion once and additional entries submitted by the participant will be deemed invalid.
Entries for the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion must be received by BUSIT within the promotion period.
Any entry that:
— is received outside of the promotion period; and/or
— has not been submitted in accordance with these terms and Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion specific terms; and/or
— is otherwise incomplete, incorrect, or illegible will be deemed invalid, at the absolute discretion of BUSIT; and/or
— uses or includes any offensive content; or plagarised content will not be eligible for entry.
Entries are accepted at the time of receipt by Waikato Regional Council and BUSIT. Waikato Regional Council and BUSIT are not liable for any entries not received for any reason.
BUSIT assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
Conditions of entry:
Late or duplicate entries will not be considered. Any entries deemed as offensive content will not be eligible for entry.
The 12x Finalists will be selected and notified by Tuesday 3 June 2025 via the supplied contact details provided at the time of entry. By entering the competition winners agree that their parent/legal caregiver has given permission to use their first name and image to be published by the promotional team from BUSIT social media channels for publicity purposes.
- ‘Junior’ entrants are defined as Year 7 – Year 10 students; and
- ‘Senior’ entrants are defined as Year 11- Year 13 students, at the time of entry form submission.
TOTE BAG DESIGN COMPETITION 2025 – PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD
– Social Media Engagement Activity
The top 12 finalists’ artwork will be published on the BUSIT Facebook and Instagram channels, to invite members of the public to ‘vote’ for (counted as engagement by way of liking or commenting on/about) their favourite artwork.
The entrant with the most engagement will be selected as the winner.
People’s Choice voting will be open from Friday 13 – Thursday 19 June 2025. Winner will be notified by Friday 20 June via the contact details supplied by the entrant.
Prize(s)
Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion prize(s) are defined as;
- Grand Prize: $200 Gordon Harris Voucher, $50 Rebel Sport voucher, tote bag printed, $50 Bee Card and selected merchandise by BUSIT and HCC
- Junior Runner Up: $50 Rebel Sport voucher, $25 Bee Card and selected merchandise by BUSIT and HCC
- Senior Runner Up: $50 Rebel Sport voucher, $25 Bee Card selected merchandise by BUSIT and HCC
- People’s Choice Award: JBL wireless headphones, $100 Rebel Sport voucher, $50 Bee Card and selected merchandise by BUSIT and HCC
Prize(s) collection
Prize(s) will be distributed at the official awards ceremony event which will be hosted by the BUSIT and HCC teams at the Transport Centre at 5.30pm on Wednesday 11 June 2025.
If for any reason, a finalist or prize winner is absent, their prize will be delivered to their school to be presented to academic staff, who will then award the prize on behalf of BUSIT and HCC.
Prize winner(s)
The Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion winner(s) shall be determined in the manner set out in the following promotion specific terms;
After all artworks have been reviewed and collated, 12x Finalists will be selected by members of the BUSIT and HCC promotional organiser teams. Finalists will be contacted via the contact details provided at the time of entry.
The three (3) major prize winner(s) shall be selected by the four (4) judges appointmented by the BUSIT and HCC promotional organisers, at the official awards ceremony held on Wednesday 11 June 2024.
The People’s Choice Award prize winner will be selected on Friday 20 June. Prize(s) will be available to collect from the BUSIT counter at the Transport Centre.
BUSIT reserves the right to determine a new winner(s) or forfeit the prizes(s) where, after two (2) attempts (within 5 business days of the winner being determined), BUSIT has been unable to contact the select winner(s).
The prize(s) must be taken as offered, cannot be redeemed for cash and is neither transferable nor exchangeable, except at the BUSIT’s sole discretion.
If the prize winner(s) does not accept the prize, the prize will be forfeited, and BUSIT reserves the right to determine a new winner.
BUSIT is not liable for any prize that may be lost, stolen, forged, damaged, or tampered with in any way after it leaves our possession.
BUSIT’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
The participant acknowledges that the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with any retail service provider. The associated brands included in the prizes have no official affiliation with Waikato Regional Council or any business partners.
Use of personal information and consent to publicity
By entering the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion, the Participant agrees that the Promotor may use the Participant’s personal information:
— to carry out the Tote Bag Design Competition 2025 Promotion including determining and notifying the winner(s);
— to provide the prize to the winner, including, where required, disclosing that information to the supplier or sponsor of the prize and/or regulatory authorities; and
— for marketing, promotional, publicity, research, and profiling purposes.
By accepting the prize, the winner agrees their first name and/or photograph being used for such publicity purposes as reasonably determined by BUSIT, including publication on the BUSIT website and/or social media accounts. The winner’s parents/guardian agrees to make themselves reasonably available for this purpose, without compensation.
All personal information will be collected and stored in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Waikato Regional Council ‘Privacy of your information’ statement located here.
Definitions
Offensive content
Any content that refers to indecency or obscenity or uses obscene or distasteful language; is likely to cause widespread or serious offence to any members of the public on account of the nature of the product or service being advertised, the wording or design of the content or by way of inference; depicts men, women or children in a sexual manner or displays nude or semi-nude figures in an overtly sexual context; relates to the sex industry including the provision of related products and services; depicts direct or immediate violence to anyone shown in the content. i.e. inclusion of assault rifle gun images or; condones or provokes anti-social behaviour, extremist religious or political views.
