NOTE: The 25 Taumarunui bus service will come to an end on Friday, 26 June 2026. This change supports a safe and sustainable approach for health clients. As a result, the public bus service will be terminated, and InterCity will be the only long distance bus available from Taumarunui.
To ensure continued access for patients travelling to hospital specialist appointments, Health New Zealand will operate a dedicated health shuttle focused on meeting the needs of patients who rely on this service. Find out more here.

The 25 Taumarunui service travels between Taumarunui, Te Kūiti and Ōtorohanga to Waikato Hospital and Hamilton - in both directions, weekdays only.
- This service is Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora funded
- Priority is given to patients travelling to hospital appointments*.
- Standard BUSIT fares apply to all other passengers.
*If you are using this service to get to an appointment in Te Kūiti, Taumarunui or Waikato Hospitals, your trip is free. Please book your place on the bus via the DHB. Details on how to do this will be included in your appointment letter.
Please bring your appointment letter with you to show the bus driver.
