UPDATE 8.30am Monday 9 September
We’ve just been notified that the industrial action has been lifted. Progress has been made throughout Sunday evening/ Monday morning and further talks are set for this week with NZTA regarding funding for higher wages. All bus services are expected to operate as normal this week.
We’ve been notified that First Union drivers will be undertaking industrial action for a week from Monday 9 September.
Services will operate - but there may be some disruptions to published timetables as we’ve been told drivers won’t adhere to timing points. This means some buses may go through stops earlier than normal – please ensure you are at your stop a few minutes before the usual time. This is especially important for passengers on our regional routes.
This industrial action is about driver wages. Waikato Regional Council, Hamilton City Council and Go Bus have been working closely together to increase driver wages. Progress has been made in recent weeks at a local level - but this industrial action is based around the central government share of the funding for higher wages.
We apologise for any disruption to your journeys this week. We’ll continue to post updates if new information comes available.
