Bus route diversions for Nightglow

service update

Many buses diverted

  • DATE: 25 March 2017

Due to road closures associated with the Balloons over Waikato Nightglow event, some of the regular BUSIT services will be diverted on the afternoon/evening of Saturday 25 March:

13 University
From 1.40pm this service will terminate at the Hillcrest Warehouse. The bus will not serve Cameron Road, Beaumont Street, Greensboro Road, Knighton Road or Gate 1 at the University.
15 Ruakura
From 1.50pm until the end of service the 15 Ruakura bus will not serve Ruakura Road or the start of Silverdale Road. The bus will run its normal route until Old Farm Road and then turn right onto Cameron Rd, then left onto Knighton Rd, right onto Helena, left onto Edinburgh, left onto Hillcrest, right onto O’Donoghue, straight onto Vesty, left onto Carrington, right onto Silverdale and then back onto the normal route. It will do the opposite in return but when it comes off Knighton Road and it will take the third exit onto Cameron Rd.
17 Hamilton East/Uni
From 1.55pm until the end of service the 17 Hamilton East/Uni will run the normal route until Cambridge Road, then turn left onto Masters Ave, then onto Carrington, then onto Vesty and terminate at the bus stop opposite St John’s College. It will not travel the normal loop of the university grounds, so stops on Knighton, Silverdale, Hillcrest, and Edinburgh roads will be missed. Bus stops on these roads will be served by the 15 Ruakura bus.
Night Rider East
For the 7pm and 9pm services on Saturday night, the Night Rider will not travel around the university fields (Ruakura and Silverdale roads). After it goes around Masters, it will travel  onto Silverdale, Carrington, right onto Vesty Ave, then onto O’Donoghue then onto Hillcrest, Edinburgh and Knighton and then continue its route onto Clyde, Old Farm, Wilson and Peachgrove roads. The closest stop to the university will be on Clyde Street near the Warehouse.
From 1pm Orbiter buses will be unable to service Cameron Road, Old Farm Road or Knighton Road. They will travel from Clyde Street to the stop near the  Hillcrest Warehouse and use the roundabout there to return towards Hamilton East.
