Note: A single fare is a one-way trip on the day of issue only. There are no different fare stages on urban routes.

One hour free travel

Purchase a single one way ticket on any Hamilton urban bus and get unlimited free transfers onto another urban bus within one hour of the original ticket purchase time. Remember to hold onto your ticket to redeem your free transfers.

Child fares

  • Children under 5 years travel free.
  • Child fares apply to children aged 5-14 and to year 9-13 students with approved school ID, or when in school uniform.

BUSIT card

For regular bus users, the BUSIT card (excluding the 60+ card) is a pre-paid card that can be used on all urban routes and also on the Cambridge, Huntly, Raglan, Taupō, Te Awamutu and Paeroa/Morrinsville services. You can purchase and top up your BUSIT card at the Transport Centre on the corner of Bryce and Anglesea Streets, Hamilton. The driver can also top up your BUSIT card for you.

City Explorer

The City Explorer fare allows for unlimited bus trips per person within the Hamilton city boundary. Travel is valid on the day of issue and up until 3.30 am the following day.

The City Explorer is available for adults and children on BUSIT cards and as a cash ticket.

60+ BUSIT card

You can use your 60+ card on urban Hamilton routes at any time. Discounts apply at off-peak times. At peak times, normal BUSIT fares apply.

  • Off-peak times apply to travel between 9 am and 3 pm Monday to Friday, and all day on weekends and public holidays.
  • Peak times apply to travel before 9 am and after 3 pm Monday to Friday.

SuperGold cards can also be used during off-peak times on most services. Find out more.
