BUSIT is the name of the network of public transport bus services in the Waikato.
BUSIT is part of Waikato Regional Council, who is responsible for planning, tendering, contracting and marketing the region’s bus services. The operation of the buses is contracted to various bus companies.
We operate 20 bus services within Hamilton as well as 15 regional services.
In total, our buses serve more than 1,000 bus stops and carry around four million passengers a year.
Hamilton Transport Centre
The BUSIT operations, planning, customer service and marketing team are based at the Hamilton Transport Centre on the corner of Bryce St and Anglesea St.
Most of our bus services travel to and from the Hamilton Transport Centre.

If your bus is involved in an accident or a serious incident occurs, please dial 111 to notify the relevant emergency service (Police, Ambulance or Fire Service) before letting BUSIT or the bus company know.
Transport plans and policies
The Waikato Regional Council is responsible for writing the Waikato Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP).
This plan sets out the priorities and needs of public transport services and infrastructure to be delivered in the Waikato over a 10-year period. It’s prepared in partnership with territorial authorities and key stakeholders from a wide range of sectors.
